Whenever a new Sims sequel series is launched, there is always a new feature lauded as an innovation over the previous entry in the series. The Sims 2 introduced aging, which was revolutionary compared to the Sims 1 where only babies aged up and children-adults remained the same. The Sims 3 brought us open worlds, which finally let us take our Sims around their entire town/city/world without loading screens. One of the selling points for The Sims 4 when it launched was "Emotions!!!" In this iteration, a sim's current emotion affects their interactions, which is intended to produce smarter sims. While this creates a fun, new way to interact with our sims, there are two issues that Simmers that prefer realism may encounter with this system: 1) Emotions can overpower one another creating constant emotional changes that are not necessarily realistic. 2) The focus on Emotions means less focus on individual personality for our sims. Luckily, there are a few mods that stand to correct these issues: 1) Have Some Personality Please - PolarBearSims https://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=594573 Description from the Mod The Sims Website: This mod is going to add excitement to your game! I removed the idle chat that sims used to do. What that was, was sims would randomly go up to someone and just "Chat". Just like it says. The sims learned nothing. They did nothing that was from their moods or traits. By removing the idle chat, sims now choose an actual interaction. Now they will ask about day, kiss, tell jokes, be mean. Your enemy sim at any given time could come up to your sim and beat you up! Interactions are based off of several factors. If a sim is evil they are more likely to do mean interactions or if they are romantic they like to choose romance over mean interactions. Their moods will play a factor in how the sims act. If they are extremely mad they are bound to yell at anyone and who ever near by. They are less likely to do friendly interactions during a hostile moment. All interactions used are listed under their add-on or flavor. Things you will find in this mod:

One of the perks is early access to updates to mods for testing before they are released to the public): https://www.patreon.com/roburky Description from roBurky's Website: Meaningful Stories is a mod pack that redesigns the mood and emotions system of The Sims 4. This collection of changes big and small aims to allow your sims to feel more human, to make the events in their lives feel more meaningful, and to turn managing their lives into a more interesting challenge. Your sim might get into a depressive rut for days that takes planning and effort and some help from their friends to overcome. Or your sim's creative nature might be filling them with inspiration when they ought to be focused instead, so you send them to work on their novel to get the ideas out of their head. But then something special happens, like a new friend, a promotion, or a first kiss, and they feel truly happy for once, in a way they never have before. Features In-game Tutorial - You don't need to read everything on this page to understand the mod! A system of tutorial tip notifications will introduce the features of the mod to you when they are affecting your sims in play. In-game Settings Menu - Every feature of this mod is optional! If there's any particular thing that doesn't suit your play-style, you can tweak it or turn it off using the in-game settings menu. To access the menu, click on your active sim, open the 'roBurky' category, choose 'Meaningful Stories'. Meaningful Moods With Meaningful Stories, emotions behave in ways that are smarter, subtler, and more varied. A sim won't be able to flip from intense sadness to intense happiness without passing through the emotions in-between. A nice room and a comfortable seat won't cause a mildly amused sim to laugh themselves to death. And small amounts of discomfort can make a sim more susceptible to negative thoughts. Emotional Inertia - Your sim's emotional state will be less predictable but more stable. Changes in mood will be more significant and last longer, and getting your sim to feel the emotion you want can be a little more challenging. The emotional inertia feature in Meaningful Stories is an entirely new design when compared with the older stand-alone mod of the same name. True Happiness - Happiness will no longer be your sims' default state. They will feel truly happy only when something worthy of it happens to them, and it should feel like their life is improved for experiencing it. Environment Effects - Artwork and objects with an emotional aura will no longer affect your sim's moods immediately. The effect will be more subtle, building up and falling away over time. Variable Moodlets - Some sources of emotional moodlet will sometimes give stronger or weaker effects, making your sims' lives a little more unpredictable. 3) Shimrod's Happy Buffs Changed To Fine - Original by Shimrod/Updated by Manderz0630 http://modthesims.info/d/594488/shimrod-s-happy-buffs-changed-to-fine.html Description from the Mod The Sims Website: This mod alters 5 buffs (moodlets) from Happy to Fine, to alleviate the situation that sims, at least if they are at home, are almost always happy unless some disaster has befallen them or if they are focused or energized or in another positive emotion. The Buffs here are the Decorated, Nicely Decorated and Beautifully Decorated; and the Feeling Good and Feeling Great buffs. All of these are changed to Fine instead of Happy, and the +1 or +2 or +3 points they give to sims is changed to 0 so there won't be any boosting of other emotions. These buffs are also hidden so they won't show up on sims in the bottom left corner. 4) Slice Of Life Mod - Kawaiistacie * Public Release (Current Version Available for Everyone): https://www.kawaiistaciemods.com/post/slice-of-life-mod *Patreon Early Access Releases (Patreon allows Patrons to support Mod Creators via donation tiers.
